2000 Kva Dry Type Transformer

The 2000 kVA Dry Type Transformer is the standard-bearer for modern hyperscale data centers and critical industrial incomers. While load calculations often suggest a 1600 kva dry type transformer might suffice, facility designers increasingly opt for the 2000 kVA unit to leverage the physics of Load Losses.

Copper losses (I²R) are proportional to the square of the current. By specifying a 2000 kVA unit to handle a 1600 kVA load, the transformer operates at only 80% capacity. Due to the square law, this reduction in load current results in a disproportionately large drop in resistive heating compared to running a 1600 kVA unit at its thermal limit. This strategy not only reduces the kW energy wasted as heat but also significantly lowers the thermal stress on the insulation, effectively doubling the asset's reliable lifespan.

As a heavy-duty dry type power transformer, this unit is engineered to handle more than just linear resistive loads. In applications like server halls or manufacturing plants with heavy VFD usage, the current waveform is distorted by harmonics.

 

• K-Factor Design: Unlike standard distribution units, this model can be rated for K-13 or K-20. We oversize the neutral conductor (200% rating) and utilize foil windings to minimize the "Skin Effect" caused by high-frequency harmonic currents.
• Electrostatic Shielding: High-frequency grid noise typically crosses from HV to LV windings via capacitive coupling. To prevent this, we insert a grounded copper screen between the primary and secondary coils. This screen intercepts the noise current flowing through the inter-winding stray capacitance and shunts it directly to ground, preventing it from corrupting the power quality delivered to sensitive downstream server racks.

Delivering a continuous current of approximately 2887 Amps (at 400V) renders standard cable lugs impractical.

• Bus Duct Flange: The low-voltage enclosure is precision-engineered with a custom flange to mate directly with Copper Busbar Trunking Systems.
• Flexible Links: To decouple the mechanical vibration of the transformer core from the rigid busbar system, we install braided copper flexible links (expansion joints) at the terminals. This prevents stress fractures on the bushing insulators during operation.

• Tier 3/4 Data Centers: Serving as the main N+1 feed for server racks. The K-13 rating ensures reliability despite the non-linear nature of switch-mode power supplies.
• Semiconductor Plants: Powering cleanroom HVAC systems where power quality and uptime are critical.
• High-Rise Chillers: Dedicated supply for large rooftop chiller plants, utilizing the AF cooling boost during peak summer days.
