Rural Electrification & Capacity Standardization
The 15 kVA Pole-Mounted Transformer is the ubiquitous "last-mile" power node, engineered specifically for rural electrification schemes and isolated residential supplies. As a single-phase overhead unit, it provides the final step-down from the medium voltage distribution line (e.g., 11kV or 13.8kV) to the 120/240V utilization level.
In modern grid asset management, the 15 kVA unit has effectively become the "Minimum Stocking Unit." The manufacturing cost difference between a legacy 10 kva pole mounted transformer and a 15 kVA model is negligible due to shared core tooling. Consequently, utility operators deploy this 15kva transformer to replace smaller units, gaining immediate overhead capacity to absorb modern load spikes without incurring the logistics costs of managing multiple small-capacity SKUs.
Wound Core Technology: Zero-Gap Efficiency
Unlike the rectangular stacked cores found in larger ground-mounted units, this pole mounted transformer utilizes a Wound Core (Unicore) construction.
- Physics of Efficiency: Continuous strips of grain-oriented silicon steel are wound tightly into a loop. This creates a magnetic path with zero air gaps in the direction of the flux.
- Benefit: This geometry drastically reduces the excitation current and no-load losses (Iron Loss). For utility companies with thousands of these small units scattered across a grid, minimizing this "constant loss" is the most critical factor in reducing Operational Expenditure (OPEX).

Tank Sealing & Installation Mechanics
The round-tank geometry is engineered for rapid maintenance and long-term sealing integrity.
- High-Voltage Cover Clamp: Instead of a multi-bolt flange, the lid is secured by a single-bolt stainless steel retaining ring. This design applies uniform pressure around 360 degrees of the nitrile gasket, eliminating the "compression gaps" common in rectangular bolted covers and ensuring the unit remains hermetic during thermal cycling.
- Type A Hangers: The rear of the tank features welded Type A Hanger Brackets. These standardized hooks allow line crews to mount the unit directly to the utility pole using a single thru-bolt connection, significantly reducing installation time aloft.

Typical Application Context
- Isolated Farmhouses: Providing a dedicated power supply to a single remote residence or barn, stepping down 11kV to 240V.
- Street Lighting Feeds: Powering a long string of highway LED streetlights where a dedicated low-voltage run would be too long (voltage drop issues).
- Service Upgrades: Replacing aging 10 kva pole mounted transformer units that are overheating due to increased household appliance usage.
